About Me

this is a short bio in which I get to speak of myself in the third person and hope this is how others see me

Dorin Stanciu is a professor and a researcher in psychology, with a strong interest in technology acceptance and anything cyberpsychology. He loves statistics and research and is anxious to see how artificial intelligence and machine learning will change research in social sciences, on the one hand, and teaching and learning, on the other hand.

and this is what I do

I teach psychology, ergonomics/human factors (with a heavy accent on human-robot interaction) and several other courses at the Technical University in Cluj-Napoca. Nice place to work and do research. You can never get bored when Engineering and Psychology come together…

I am also the Editor in Chief of Computers in Human Behavior Reports (IF 4.9), which is the youngest sibling of the much more notorious Computers in Human Behavior. We publish so many interesting papers… You should really check it out.

some of the things I did

I was also a contributing faculty at Walden University, one of the largest providers of higher education in the world, where I coordinated doctoral students and also performed university research reviews. This gave me fantastic opportunities to work with students and colleagues from all over the world on amazing projects.

what I wished I did but did not yet find the time

I do not really post or blog, mostly because I don’t have the time, but also because there are already heaps of valuable information out there. But I do try to respond to questions that are send to me and I make a point of considering all suggestions made my way.

One of my biggest pet projects is to build a webpage to explain research methods to social scientists. It all started, how else, with my own fears and unanswered questions. And I see there are a lot of others that face the same problems I did. Statistics is beautiful, once you understand it. And I cannot imagine something more uplifting than studying and exploring Research Methods.
